Day Trips to Barbados

If you're planning a Cayman Islands surfing vacation, you'll want to make sure to check out the nearby surfing spots, especially the conditions in Barbados. Because of the highly seasonal fluctuations in wave quality, you can catch a day trip to a nearby Island which might have better conditions on a given day to make sure you don't miss a day of surfing.

The Barbados Islands provide an ideal day trip from the Caymans when you're looking to catch some waves during down times. Barbados is a varied set of Islands, with an Eastern portion which has regular waves and a Western portion which has a peak season during the winter from November to February when a lower pressure climate begins to take hold.

Both portions of the island can have impressive waves, although they are rarely overwhelming: the largest waves tend to cap out at six feet, but they consistently are about four feet. You can also find impressive wave breaks during the winter in the South, which benefits from a strong southwestern wind.

Given the diversity of the climate in such a small environment, a day trip to Barbados can provide a diversity of surfing environments all within a distinct area. The most popular surfing areas include Bathsheba, known as the Soup Bowl, and the beaches off of Oistins Bay, as well as the Silver Sands Beaches.

If you're surfing in the Caymans and find the waves flat, head over to Barbados to get your surf on.
